About the award

Introduced in 2013, this award recognises restaurants that deliver excellent standards of restaurant service and hospitality. Teams will deliver technical service skills and food and beverage knowledge of the highest standard.

The Seafood Restaurant

It's hard to think of another UK restaurant that evokes such a positive feeling and sense of place. It's been here for such a long time (since 1975) that it seems a permanent fixture. The sheer volume of diners that pass through daily is impressive enough, but a team that delivers daily changing menus at such a high level is next level.

Service starts with a seafood-led breakfast. Then lunch and dinner where head Chef Pete Murt delivers classic Rick Stein recipes. The FOH team are relentless ambassadors for the food and the local area. Dover sole is expertly boned out tableside as large platters of seafood sail over the heads of customers. At the seafood bar oysters are shucked and crabs dismembered. It's the hospitality that stands out though – on a busy bank holiday Sunday with 250 covers already behind them, the smiles and chat were still sparkling. An amazing team effort.
