About the award
Introduced in 2017, the AA Restaurant with Rooms of the Year award recognises an AA-rated guest accommodation that is also a dining destination.
Mingary Castle, Kilchoan, Highland
This will be a somewhat epic journey for most visitors - the location on the very tip of Ardnamurchan offers a wild backdrop and views to the outer isles. It's either a long drive around the peninsula or a ferry trip from Mull. Built within the 13th-century curtain walls of Mingary Castle, this restaurant with rooms is unique. It enjoys luxurious feature bedrooms and en suites alongside a stunning restaurant that showcases great technical skill and the wonderful larder that the Ardnamurchan Peninsula has to offer. A high standard is maintained here to match the luxurious surrounds. Guests can explore the top of the curtain wall or climb down the staircase towards the sea and the viewing platform to take in the Isle of Mull just across the water.
