About the award

Each year the AA independently inspects hundreds of restaurants across the British Isles. Introduced in 2000, this award recognises restaurants that provide cuisine of a truly excellent standard, as well as demonstrating innovation and ambience and providing a high standard of hospitality.

Cornerstone by Chef Tom Brown

Tom Brown, formerly at the Capital and a Nathan Outlaw protégé, launched his debut restaurant, Cornerstone back in April 2018 to widespread critical acclaim. The 46-cover restaurant showcases Tom’s own style of simple, clean and produce-driven cooking.
The interiors have a minimal/stripped-back feel and careful lighting creates a light/bright space. The kitchen is situated in the centre of the restaurant and doubles up as a counter-bar. Cornerstone has a regularly changing menu, which uses only the best British produce. Dishes are ideal for sharing too.

The short international wine list comprises of circa 22 bins, with 12 available by the glass from £6, and bottles from £22 with a focus on natural, organic and biodynamic wines to complement the menu. Home infused cocktails and a good selection of craft ales are also a feature.
