About the award

Introduced in 2017, the AA Restaurant with Rooms of the Year award recognises an AA-rated guest accommodation that is also a dining destination.

The Witchery, Edinburgh

Now in its fifth decade, The Witchery is owned by James Thomson who also owns Prestonfield House. The nine individually designed suites all have their own charm, character and more than a dash of theatre. Some say this is one of the world's most romantic places to stay, and there is a real who’s who of people that have visited.

Arriving guests can expect a bottle of champagne and breakfast can be in the Witchery restaurant or take the form of a luxurious hamper full to the brim. A great option if guests want to make the most of their time in their gorgeous suite.

Diners have two options: the original Witchery and the Secret Garden. Both deliver a sense of theatre, from the oakpanelled elegance of The Witchery to the romantic charm of the larger Secret Garden, each lit with candles which provide a wonderful setting for the outstanding Scottish cuisine.
