About the award

First awarded in 2016, the AA College Restaurant of the Year Award has been developed in conjunction with our partner People 1st to recognise accredited colleges within the AA College Rosette Scheme that have shown outstanding achievements in a realistic working environment.

Y Dosbarth provides invaluable realworld experience while showcasing the very best of hospitality education. Holding both an AA College Rosette and People 1st Centre of Excellence status, it combines professional standards with a student-led approach, enabling learners across cookery, hospitality and frontof-house programmes to develop skills, confidence and industry experience. Serving lunch from Tuesday to Saturday, with dinner services on Thursday and Friday, the restaurant allows students to take responsibility for both the kitchen and front of house. Its strong industry links provide opportunities to work alongside renowned chefs, participate in major events and compete at national and international level. With learners progressing into leading hospitality businesses and achieving success at WorldSkills, The Classroom demonstrates how college restaurants can inspire and develop the next generation of hospitality professionals.
